Episode 02 — Interpretation of Pharaoh's Dreams, Governance of Egypt, and Reunion

While in prison, Yusuf demonstrated his divine gift of dream interpretation for two fellow inmates. Years later, the King of Egypt saw a disturbing dream: seven fat cows being eaten by seven lean cows, and seven green ears of grain and seven dry ones.

None of the court scholars could interpret it. The King's cupbearer remembered Yusuf in prison. Yusuf provided the divine interpretation without demanding immediate release: Egypt would experience seven years of abundant harvest followed by seven years of severe famine. He advised storing grain in its husk during the fertile years.

Impressed by his honesty, wisdom, and innocence, the King cleared Yusuf of all false charges and appointed him as the Supreme Treasurer and Minister of Finance over Egypt.

During the famine, people from surrounding lands came to Egypt for grain, including Yusuf's brothers. Yusuf recognized them, treated them with generosity, and eventually revealed his identity: "I am Yusuf, and this is my brother. Allah has indeed been gracious to us." (Surah Yusuf 12:90).

When his brothers expressed remorse, Yusuf forgave them completely, uttering words of noble magnanimity: "No blame upon you today. May Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful." (Surah Yusuf 12:92).

Prophet Yaqub's eyesight was restored upon receiving Yusuf's shirt, and the entire family was reunited in Egypt, fulfilling the initial dream as his parents and brothers prostrated in respect before his honorable station.
